A new industrial SD memory card controller with extended security features

Hyperstone has released its new S9 series SD and microSD memory card controllers. The S9S version of the controller with an API adds various security features. In addition, with a tradition of providing the most reliable NAND flash controllers, the family meets the needs of demanding applications with turnkey firmware.

The controller's FlashXE ECC and hyReliability feature set ensure extended life, data integrity, and power failure safety for demanding applications in markets including industrial automation, networking, telecommunications, and medical devices. Through the hyMap Flash conversion layer, the S9 provides minimal write magnification and maximum persistence time, which enables 3D NAND Flash to be used efficiently, thus reducing field failures. Qualifications can be monitored and predictive maintenance achieved through the company's companion Hysmmart Life and health monitoring tool.

The API provides the infrastructure and tools to create a truly innovative storage solution. The security variant S9S provides hardware support for AES-128/256, public-key elliptic curve cryptography, TRNG/DRBG and SHA-256 hases, and GPIO pin ISO7816, I2C and SPI interfaces.

The S9 has been certified in the industrial temperature range (-40 ° C to +85 ° C) and will be available in 7.5mm x 4mm LGA-64 packages, S9-LAK08 (standard version) and S9-LASK08 (safety and API version). SD cards for evaluation, as well as engineering samples and firmware, are now available.
